Today’s Tip:
Transform Your Designs With Holographic Text Effects
Insight from Deep Shah
Sometimes, a simple change — such as the use of holographic text — can take your design from average to astounding.
Photoshop is your gateway to design success. Take these steps to get started.
Import your text: Open Photoshop and start a new project. Select the Type tool from the toolbar, click on your canvas, and type out the text you want to apply the holographic effect to. If you don’t have Photoshop, try it for free by clicking here.
Adjust text settings: Customize the font, size, and alignment of your text. Use the Character panel to fine-tune these settings, ensuring your text is sharp and clear before applying effects.
Duplicate the text layer: Right-click on the text layer in the Layers panel and select Duplicate Layer. This preserves your original text while allowing you to experiment with effects on the new layer.
Apply a gradient overlay: With the duplicated layer selected, go to Layer > Layer Style > Gradient Overlay. Choose a gradient that mimics the iridescent look of a hologram. Adjust the angle, scale, and opacity to perfect the effect.
Add texture and depth: Create a new layer above your text and fill it with a subtle texture, like noise or clouds. Set the blending mode of this layer to Overlay or Soft Light to add depth to your holographic text.
Use blending modes: Experiment with different blending modes on your text layer to enhance the holographic effect. Try Overlay, Screen, or Color Dodge to see which creates the most striking result. Adjust the opacity for the best look.
Make final adjustments: Convert your text layer to a Smart Object by right-clicking and selecting Convert to Smart Object. Apply a Gaussian Blur or other Smart Filters to add softness and refine the holographic appearance.
Congratulations — you’ve transformed your boring text! 🎉
